Romita Biswas is a multidisciplinary artist whose genuineness and grace towards life has led to her embracing a healing artistic practice. It became a part of who she is and holds importance for how she chooses to navigate the world. Romita’s practice began in dance and art. That childlike confidence in her abilities dulled in high school and was reinvigorated during her approach to college graduation. The stress of finishing brought with it a reminder to breathe, release, create. With a tiny sketchbook in hand Romita began to draw again. Bringing to life images whose value is tied to the size of the page. Not enough to cause stress but big enough to feel pride. In time her confidence gradually cultivated toward the canvas. For Romita, art comes in lapping waves like the ocean. An idea, an outline, of how it will look and what it will represent washes in. Succeeding that comes emotion and the soul of the piece. What it wants to be and how it will manifest itself on the page. Romita creates in tears, laughs, yells, and silent contemplation. The magic is in the moment and when she looks back on each piece, she is transported to those moments in her life represented therein. The other half of her Creative practice, dance, remains a major part of her life as well. Expression through movement has brought with it lasting community and the opportunity to pay homage to her culture. Romita’s creativity does not stop on the canvas or the dance floor, however. An advocate for the progressive use of technology, Romita has combined her creativity and passion for engineering to create “DeltaQ,” a blog catered towards the macro use of sustainable technologies. Through her blog she informs of innovative and eco-friendly ways in which we, as human beings, may tackle a few of the ecological issues prevalent in our present world. Romita is an artist with a strong desire to see society live towards a direction of longevity. Through art, creative thinking, and community she works tirelessly to shift the needle from “N,” nowhere to “S,” a synergetic future.
