"Have a child like interest in the world."

"You matter, you make beauty, and you yourself is beautiful just as you are."

"You are not above anybody or below anybody, but equal."

"If you are still here on this earth, give thanks."

"Nature is abundant. The natural world is a graveyard and a delivery room all at once."

Everything is Everything! Like the Lauryn Hill song, Neha Misra is an artist who embraces the intention of harmony and wholeness. To her the world is a gathering of connected beings. Not just among humans and animals but plant life and the forces of nature as well. As the world burns in an increasing number of big little fires from climate change wrought through human greed and arrogance, she feels it's not a coincidence that the number of burnt-out humans has also increased. To heal from these burns, Neha places her faith in the flame of creativity. Hers flickering in vibrant colors that shine their light into the past while growing seeds of a renewed future. Neha's artistic journey began as childhood colorings in Delhi, India. As she advanced in life this imaginative joy was quelled by the smog of extractive capitalistic systems which cloud not only our atmosphere and but our judgment. In 2006, having worked extensively in environmental sustainability in India, Neha moved to the states. Here she saw how disconnection from the sacredness of nature invariably harmed the well-being of both people and the planet. In this early immigrant journey, Neha also experienced a devastating personal loss. In rebuilding herself, a return to the act of creating was an integral part of her healing. In many ways, the difficult experience of emerging through grief helped her reconnect with the transformative power of art to heal her body, mind, and spirit in wholeness. Since then, Neha has cultivated her inner flame of healing through multi-disciplinary regenerative artistic practice in visual art, poetry, and meditation. This practice was turned outwards through her joining with inspiring art communities. Where she curates art workshops and events, she feels could help replenish the world. Neha draws creative inspiration from her maternal lineage of grandmothers stretching back to Mother Earth. Her artwork accents the idea that beauty is not an anomaly or solely found in art galleries or museums but is all around us. Is wherever we find ourselves in existence. As a co-weaver of organizations connecting art and artists with the climate justice movement, Neha believes in the time-fullness of creativity and the power that comes from sitting, remembering, and breathing traditional meanings into our modern world. (Re)imagining our own creative roles in its reshaping and reformation. Neha has reached back with her words and art to grasp her individual pearls in Indra’s net - the Eastern philosophy of fractal connectedness of all life. Collectively weaving this shared fabric of life to spark creative reclamation in herself and others as we continue to build an inclusive future.
